Home Search Topics Contact About | We Can Know We Are Going To HeavenWe can know for sure that we are going to Heaven. In fact, that is the purpose for much of what God tells us in the Bible. Making sure we are going to Heaven is the most important thing we can ever do. 1 John 5:13a: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. The only way to know for sure we are going to Heaven is to have the Holy Spirit speak to our hearts and tell us that we are. We need to hear it from Him. Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Most of what God says to us is in the Bible, some of it is in the creation and sometimes He speaks to us through other men. But He does not entrust to anyone but the Holy Spirit His message to us that we have become His child. When we receive Jesus into our hearts, He gives us the Holy Spirit. If we sense the love of God coming to us and notice ourselves loving others in a new and better way, it is also good evidence that we are on our way to Heaven. 1 John 4:12b: . . . If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.If a mortal man tells us that we are headed for Heaven it may or may not be true. Our faith must be in God and not in men. The only time when we should believe men about spiritual things is when they speak the same things that God says. Jeremiah 17:5: Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
If we are on the way to Heaven, God wants us to know that and enjoy it. If we are not on the way to Heaven He wants us to know that and lead us to the right way. Jesus is the right way and the only way. John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
When we know for certain that we are going to Heaven, it takes a lot of stress out of life. If we have a comfortable life, we can know that we are going to have a better one in Heaven. If we have a lot of problems in life we can be encouraged that they are only temporary. So how do we get Jesus, in whom and through whom is eternal life? We receive Him into our hearts. John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Ephesians 3:17a: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; . . .
1 John 5: 12: He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. He that hath the Son hath life; is in the present tense. The moment we receive Jesus eternal life begins in us. It is not something we have to wait for until after we die. Our flesh won*t be perfected until Jesus returns for us or we die and go to be with Him, but He gives us a better life immediately. It is the beginning of life as a child of God. Our parents did not take care of the children down the block. They took care of those of us that were their own children. God certainly takes better care of those that become His children. |
